The ÍEI responsibles

The mission of the INDEM is to promote, channel, coordinate and disseminate the research and post graduate studies in the different areas of business, with special attention to topics related to business innovation from an interdisciplinary approach. This activity follows the criteria of transparency and excellence in order to address satisfactorily the different issues connected to the business environment raised by the university community as well as the different stakeholders in the society.

The INDEM aims to be the link between research and the business world, with a commitment to promote and disseminate research applied to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of business activity.

INDEM Institute

The Institute for the Development of Enterprises and Markets INDEM is associated to the Department of Business Administration of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and is the exclusive entity responsible for implementing the Innovation Index in Spain.

ÍEI responsibles

A tandem of INDEM members, associate professors of the Department of Business Administration, are leading this project.

Lola C. Duque

Associate (Titular) Professor at the Department of Business Administration, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She holds a BA in Business Administration (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), a MSc in Business and Economics (Universidad Pompeu Fabra), and a PhD in Management from Universidad de Barcelona.

Her main areas of research are services marketing and consumer welfare. Currently, Lola is teaching various marketing courses in graduate and postgraduate programs, and she is one of the persons in charge of the Spanish Innovation Index.

Lluís Santamaría

Associate (Titular) Professor of Accounting at the Department of Business Administration, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He holds a PhD in Business Administration and a Licentiate degree in business and economics from Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain).

His main areas of research are management of innovation and accounting information systems. His research examines aspects of corporate governance, management of innovation, technological cooperation and comparative institutional analysis. Currently, Luis teaches financial and management accounting.

The Institute for Development of Enterprises and Markets (INDEM) aims to be the bridge between the university and the real world: the link between its members and the business and social world, with a commitment to promote and disseminate research applied to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of business activity. INDEM’s activity has a special emphasis on business innovation.

INDEM is composed of more than 60 researchers: most of them belong to the Department of Business Administration and others come from other departments of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Economics and Statistics) as well as from other prestigious international universities.
